India is a vast, infinitely rich tapestry of human cultures thousands of years old overlaid upon gloriously varied scenery.

Palaces, fortresses temples and bustling bazaars. Tigers, elephants and rhinoceros. Himalayan peaks, cool hillstations and tea plantations. Pristine white beaches and faraway islands.

When you walk around ancient cities like Varanasi on the holy Ganges every sense is saturated by the living culture; people on pilgrimage, spice stalls and street food, ancient temples, busy markets, noise, vibrant colour. The architecture of India’s cities has evolved as religions have thrived, wealth has been created and invaders and colonists have come and gone. All have left their mark and all have contributed to what you see today.

India is complex so call us at an early stage to discuss how your itinerary can best be designed to take in places you’ve longed to see. The cities and great historic sites of Rajasthan and Central India are intensely alive and busy. So after a day exploring fortresses and bazaars we’ll plan in breathing space and can arrange for you to be based in some gorgeously ornate princely palace in a nearby country setting. India has some of the world’s most splendid hotels, often occupying former royal residences.

If you enjoy natural beauty you’ll want to visit at least one of India’s many national parks where tigers, leopard and a host of other creatures roam former Maharajah’s hunting grounds. India has 166 national parks in deserts, wetlands, rainforests, mountains and plains. Many have old forts and temples. The main tiger and big game reserves of Ranthambore, Kanha and Bandhavgarh are best known, but many others have amazing birdlife, animals and spectacular scenery.

Like a good Indian meal, a holiday to India is an intense experience; full of colour and flavour with an aftertaste to savour. We’ll talk with you about the ideal place to wind down and relax. If you like beaches we’ll take you to Kerala, Goa or even the remote Andaman Islands. Or follow the colonials up to Sikkim and cool hillstations to wander the foothills of the majestic Himalayas. Or we’ll find you one of those Maharajah’s palaces that’s been lovingly recreated as a fabulous hotel.
