Privately Guided Safaris

We will provide guides with personality and expert knowledge who are good communicators and a joy to be in the company of. A good guide will play an important part in your experience of Africa; someone who will point out the detail, explain animal habitats and behaviour and above all else ensure you get the most memorable safari.

Sebastian Chuwa

Sebastian Chuwa is considered to be Tanzania's leading safari guide and botanist. Since the 1980's Sebastian has been guiding safaris throughout Tanzania and has built up his reputation as one of the finest naturalists operating in the country. In addition to his wide knowledge of Africa's wildlife and his botanical studies, Sebastian also has an in-depth knowledge of Tanzania's natural history and ethnic culture, accompanied with a charming personality.

Sebastian's interest in botany led him to discover a completely new plant species in the Ngorongoro Highlands, and this has been named after him. He has also been nominated for the prestigious Rolex Award for his work in propagating indigenous tree species on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. In February 2002 the Olympic Committee honoured his conservation efforts by presenting him with the Spirit of the Land Award in person during a visit to Salt Lake City, USA.

Sebastian has been responsible for guiding many Africa Exclusive clients over the years, all of whom testify to his amazing knowledge and wide range of skills, which add hugely to the success of a safari.

Lisa Reed

Lisa Reed was born in 1974 in Zimbabwe and spent her school years in South Africa before studying Tour Operations and then working in or being associated with Safari camps. Lisa has lived in Botswana since January 1996 and enjoys nothing more than passing on her passion for the Botswana Bush.

Lisa has a natural affinity with children and enjoys guiding safaris to suit both the ages and interests of the children and adults. Her safaris are unique in that they are family orientated and adventurous. Lisa has that quality so valued by children - enthusiasm. Lisa works hard to ensure that the parents relax and the children are educated, have fun and enjoy - what more could you want.

Her ability with children has meant that many families have enjoyed a special time together in the bush classroom and have returned with closer bonds that come from a very personal and special shared experience. She has a 100% success rate with her guests and has never had a negative report, she is very proud of this record, and due to this has many families and groups returning to the wilderness to go on yet another educational adventure with her into some of the most exotic, interesting places our fascinating planet has to offer.

Ian Michler

Ian was born in Cape Town and brought up on a farm in the south-western Cape district of South Africa. He attended school and university in Cape Town before qualifying as a stockbroker. He practised as a full member of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and as a partner in two successful broking firms for seven years.

However, Ian was missing the bush and left the world of finance in 1989 and moved to Botswana where he has lived and worked ever since.

Ian now has over twelve years of guiding experience. He knows the Okavango, Linyanti and Chobe regions of Botswana extensively and has also spent a lot of time guiding in Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia and to a lesser extent, Mozambique and Kenya. His safari experience includes big game, photographic, walking, horse-back and elephant-back safaris. Ian is also an experienced fly-fishing guide and has led safaris into the Kalahari to see the San people. Ian's special interest is in the big game, plants, birds and photography. His safaris always include the conservation and wildlife management dilemma's facing Africa.
