Location
Tierra Atacama is situated high on the Chilean Altiplano, from which you can admire the Andes and Domeyko mountain ranges. The hotel was built on the site of an old cattle corral, and the ancient adobe walls have been cleverly incorporated into the structure.
Accommodation
The interior pays tribute to the region’s local artists and designers, and is completely in-keeping with the magic of Chile’s natural surroundings. Furniture and furnishings have been handmade with local materials, and the colours and textures used throughout the rooms and communal areas are warm and contemporary. Rooms have private terraces and outdoor showers, as well as large windows showcasing the Licancabur Volcano (5,919m) and Salt Mountain range. At night, the crisp high-altitude air gives guests the jaw-dropping spectacle of the starry heavens.
Throughout the hotel are plenty of fantastic communal spaces to enjoy, including fire pits, cosy patios, and relaxing lounge areas, as well as a lively bar and restaurant. The restaurant creates healthy, organic dishes with Chilean and Andean flavours. The chefs source the very best Chilean beef and lamb, and gather fruit and vegetables from the hotel’s own garden. There is an excellent wine selection and guests are strongly encouraged to try Chile’s most famous drink, the Pisco Sour.
