The Plettenberg
South Africa has added its own unique spin to The Plettenburg: it’s no ordinary beach hotel, but rather has been elevated on account of its position, landscape, and overall quality of design and service to be one of the finest hotels along the Garden Route. Plettenberg is one of the most scenic towns on the Garden Route, and the hotel of the same name is the obvious accommodation choice.

Location
The Plettenberg is probably South Africa’s finest beach hotel, set on a rocky headland in a superb location overlooking Plettenberg Bay.
Accommodation
The hotel has Relais & Chateaux accreditation and is relatively intimate, with only 37 luxurious rooms and suites. All rooms are attractively furnished and decorated in light colours, shades of cream, greens, and yellows harmonising with the ocean and surrounding countryside.
The hotel restaurant has wonderful views of Formosa Bay and serves modern South African cuisine. It’s also possible to have a more intimate dinner in the Wine Cellar, surrounded by hundreds of bottles of vintage South African wines. You can swim in one of two swimming pools, and also enjoy the spa.
Experiences
Guests at The Plettenberg can enjoy a variety of watersports activities including scuba diving, sailing, and whale watching between May and November. There are several championship standard 18 hole golf courses within a short driving distance, plenty of pretty coastal towns to visits, and scenic vineyards where you will definitely want to stop for lunch or to taste the wines.
