There is a large thatched lounge bar, a swimming pool with wonderful panoramas of the Drakensberg landscape, and a restaurant which serves a high standard of international cuisine.
Experiences
It is an excellent base from which to tour the Drakensberg by hire car and on foot and there are literally dozens of walking trails both in the immediate vicinity of Montusi and further out on the berg.
Montusi are pleased to provide a guide which will be particularly useful for the longer more distant walks in places like the Ukhahlanba and one speciality is to take a full day hike to the top of the Amphitheatre to enjoy the awesome views of the surrounding mountain country.
Montusi has stables and a number of thoroughbred horses providing guests the opportunity to ride through this superb scenery and again this can be done alone, or in the company of a guide.
Overnight horseback safaris can also be arranged to the Sungubala Mountain Camp, though this would involve seven or eight hours in the saddle and would need to be booked in advance. Other activities include fly fishing and mountain biking.

Environment
Montusi believes that preservation is an integral part of conservation in the Northern Drakensberg. With this in mind, invasive wattle trees have been eradicated and the estate has been rehabilitated by planting thousands of indigenous trees.
Conservation
The tree planting programme has culminated in the indigenous forests, and resultant indigenous birdlife, flourishing. Additionally, this has seen the return of Mountain Reedbuck, Vaal Rhebuck, Bushbuck and the elusive Eland that have repopulated the area.
